Week 1

I made the first visit to the University. I take tea with the staff of Animals Science.

I visit with the Ukulinga Research Farm with undergraduate students of the last year of Agriculture Engineering to see their finals projects. They main objective was to make a project which involves all the knowledge of their acquired in the last years and also has to be low cost and useful.

I attend a field trip whit the same group to an enterprise who import and made implements to farming. Most of them are from Europe and Brazil. Also they made like grass shopper and press to work with cattle.

I have the opportunity to attend a presentation from Professor Alistar Paterson. Who expose about why the Natural Beef manage failed in South Africa. He spoke about the different certifications there are required to sell meet under the name of “Natural Beef” and specified that they are have a lot requirements and that increase the production cost. Unfortunately the sells do not paid the cost.
I went with a post doctored student to see the community contribution of undergraduate students in the Nutrition major. They teach kids about the importance of the good clean habits like wash the hands before eat, careful with cross contamination and the feed there is not good combine.
